Ski Instruction For Children

Penquins and Polar Bears.  Snow Foxes and Wild Things.  We start them young at Mt. Southington.  Our children’s programs are designed for the young skier, ages 4 to 12, and are held in The Glacier Learning Area, our part of the mountain reserved exclusively for these children’s programs.  The Glacier Learning Area, located next to the Rental Shop and the Alpine Eatery, is very convenient for moms, pops and kids, and features the Magic Carpet Lift and the Handle Tow.

Our instructors are specially trained to work with young learners.  Each lesson centers on exercises and games that teach skills while providing fun for the youngsters.  At the end of the lesson, parents are given a Progress Card detailing accomplishments and a program to follow.

Get your kids off the couch and out of the house.  Get them to Mt. Southington for skiing fun out in the winter sun.

4-Hour Polar Bears
The Four-hour Polar Bear session runs on weekends and holidays from 10am to 3:30pm, with an hour and a half break for lunch at Noon.  Your child will be grouped according to skill and age.  Each student stays with the same instructor for the entire day.  Every lesson’s focus is to have fun and improve skills no matter what level skier.

2-Hour Snow Foxes
The Two-hour Snow Fox session follows the same format as the Four-hour Polar Bear's.  This package is perfect for the young skier who is short on time and/or stamina, or for parents who would like to ski with their child for part of the day.  Lessons run from 10am to Noon or from 1:30pm to 3:30pm.

1-Hour Penguins
The One-Hour Penguin Program serves as an introduction to skiing for our youngest guests.  Each Penguin will be introduced to the equipment and introductory skiing skills.  Lessons are from 10am to 11am or from 1:30pm to 2:30pm.

The Children's Program includes a Lift Ticket good until 5 pm.
